Great new tool for monitoring website performance.

July 2nd, 2010

I just stumbled upon a great tool for measuring and monitoring a websites performance. It’s FREE and created by IBM and looks to work a lot like firebug and Chrome’s Javascript console.

IE9 is only a preview for now. Then why install it?

June 30th, 2010

An IE9 preview was release just a few days ago and I have to ask. What’s the point? It’s a preview and going with Microsoft’s browser modus operati, it probably is way behind and not that great. It did get an 83/100 on the Acid 3 tests. Impressive but not so impressive.

Browser Market-share as of Now

It’s good to see IE6 is less than 5% and on a decline.

Using IE7 but reports your browser is IE8

May 19th, 2010

This issue seems to happen very rarely but we wanted to offer what we think may be a solution. Thanks to Brian Yang for his help in testing. A quick fix can be just placing the following meta tag on the top of your html page:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />

We realize this isn’t a complete solution but will do the job for now. :)

Kudos to TredoSoft

Kudos to TredoSoft

We’ve decided to post an article to recognize a small software company based out of Bahrain named TredoSoft. They were able to successfully bundle IE versions from 3.0 to 7.0 as standalone browsers for testing. Testing on IE has always been a big irritant to most all web designer/developers I know. For the simple reason that once you upgrade to the latest IE (sometimes forcefully by Microsoft..grrrr), you cannot keep older versions of IE installed side-by-side. This meant that as a developer you have to trust that future IE browser versions will relatively function the same as the older ones (LOL) and or there wouldn’t be any discrepancies about the public moving to the latest versions.  Never the case. :)

So Kudos to you, TredoSoft and thanks for all your hard work. :)

We are really excited about the latest release. It includes features that would allow more customization such as localization and css (color, shape, font, etc). Thanks to the many developers who have shown their support and offered translations for their respective languages. We have FTF in 6 different languages and will be adding more very soon. The following are the JSON language files. Please refer to our installation guide for implementation of our new localization feature.
